Prior to their contest against the New Jersey Devils, the Canucks have assigned Philip Holm back to the Utica Comets
Holm did not appear in any games with the Canucks during this recall but that isn’t surprising as the Canucks had enough healthy defenceman and had been playing well. He was recalled to ensure that if another injury came up, there was another defenceman available and Holm had been playing well in Utica, so collecting an NHL salary for a couple of days is a nice reward.
The Canucks had 22 players on the roster, with Dorsett having been placed or will be placed on IR, so the assigning Holm suggests that Chris Tanev and Troy Stecher are ready to go for tonight. There can be a delay in when the actual player is assigned and when it’s announced, so it could be for today.
With that being said – given it is after 5PM ET, the transaction may be for tomorrow and only one of the defenceman are ready to go.
Holm will be a big add to the Comets lineup as they continue to struggle with their own injuries.
**Update**
Stecher and Tanev to return tonight. Gudbranson is injured and sounds like Biega will be the odd man out on D. #canucks
Stecher and Tanev are good to go tonight – thus the re-assignment of Holm to Utica.
