The Canucks are down to 5 defensemen tonight as Alex Edler leaves the game with a lower-body injury.
Later in the first period, Edler collided with the Jets’ Mark Scheifele and hit the boards rather awkwardly. From the looks of it, it appears his left side was aggravated right after the hit on his recovery – possibly the lower part of the leg? Purely speculation, but it could be his knee when you look at the way it seems to give out when he stumbles. He didn’t appear to be in intense pain immediately after, which is certainly a good sign. The choice to keep him out for the rest of the game could be precautionary, but we’ll learn the severity of his injury in the coming days.
Until then, let the speculation of Derrick Pouliot’s Canucks debut begin.
