Babych Please – January 27th, 2017

The All Star break is upon us, meaning we get a full week without Canucks hockey! This feels especially exciting after last night’s snoozer in Glendale. As Bo Horvat prepares to rub elbows with Carly Rae Jepsen and Nick Jonas, his teammates are driving cars and go-karts, helping their friends out, and learning to express emotion.

  • Bo Horvat is going to Hollywood for the NHL All Star Game! Bo’s opinion on movies are pretty safe, but I love the confidence of the Ryan Reynolds answer.

  • Bo even gets a giant puck with his face on it!

  • In the least surprising news ever, Daniel Sedin seems like a nice dad and a safe driver. Daniel talks coffee, shoulder checks, and learns what “quirky” means in the latest installment of Canucks in Cars.

  • Jordan Subban did not get to play this week, but he did get to go go-karting with the big club before being returned to Utica. The poor kid tried his best on the track but did not do so well. He’s no Daniel Sedin.

  • Jacob Markstrom made sure that the young Subban didn’t get overwhelmed by the NHL stick-cutting technology. Putting the tender in goaltender.

  • Alex Edler has come a long way – the fact that he’s doing extended one-on-one interviews is mind boggling considering no one heard him speak from about 2006 until 2011. His lack of emotion does remain intact. He’s basically Captain Holt from Brooklyn 99 if Captain Holt from Brooklyn 99 had absolutely no authority in his voice. His one-on-one interview is sweet, though, as he reflects on all-of-a-sudden becoming the seasoned veteran on the Canucks blueline, life with Chris Tanev, and more.

  • Bo Horvat, Sven Baertschi, and Jacob Markstrom know absolutely nothing about Ryan Miller. Horvat takes the opportunity to jokingly pump his own tires, Baertschi confirms that he does indeed know how to say “Led Zeppelin”, and Markstrom is just all over the place. Also, Miller definitely wants to take over the world.
