Babych Please – December 9th, 2016

The Canucks are a confusing bunch. Sometimes, they win games they have no business winning in a manner that no one could see coming. This week, the confusion extends to the location of their soccer ball, Troy Stecher’s infallibility, and scarves.

  • The Canucks were asked to explain their traditional pre-game soccer game on CanucksTV’s What’s The Deal? Henrik gives us the history of the ritual – he and his Swedes are all the best at soccer. Yes, that is Todd Bertuzzi wearing a visor at 0:14. Ryan Miller sounds like he’s only had horrible experiences with soccer. Luca Sbisa just breaks your heart.
  • The best part of the video is Nikita Tryamkin trying to play soccer while holding a giant piece of foam.

  • Speaking of soccer, the Canucks lost their soccer ball again. Twice. They are consistent in that sense, at least. Before they found it the first time, they tried the water bottle challenge. None of these guys have what it takes to be Vine famous.

  • The Canucks are on the road and so is Behind the Lens. Here’s shiny new #1 defenseman Ben Hutton trying to make up for Chris Tanev’s flow and Alex Edler’s ability to wear a scarf well. 9/10 on the flow, 7/10 on the scarf.

  • Meanwhile, Loui Eriksson gets a 10 for his scarf.

  • Is Jacob Markstrom wearing the same scarf as Ben Hutton? I really did not mean to make this an entire section about scarves but I need answers. There are non-scarf-related pictures in the full galleries, which can be found here.

  • R2-D2 visited the Canucks in New Jersey because, like, sure. Ben Hutton, as he does, immediately serenades the droid. What a fun and weird time.

  • Troy Stecher was the King of the Rink this week and he seems like a very normal young man who likes ketchup chips and Call of Duty. He also would choose to eat steak with Donald Trump, which is proof that even this city’s hero makes some questionable choices.

  • Thatcher Demko needed a new Best Friend Forever after the Jared McCann trade and it looks like Jordan Subban is the guy for the job. Demko loves to dance and so does Subban! Here they are dancing:

  • Finally, here is a picture of Olli Juolevi looking kind of unsure about baseball.
