- It was Jake Virtanen’s 20th birthday this week and @VanCanucks encouraged fans to send in videos to wish him a happy birthday. They did this a little early, though, so Virtanen had to thank fans for birthday wishes twice.
Guys ! My birthday is on the 17th ! Thank you though everyone

- Also, Winnipeg Jet Chase De Leo revealed that Jake Virtanen’s nickname is “Meat”, which is almost definitely better than “Big Country”

- Virtanen spent his last day as a teenager doing what teenagers love most – catching Pokemon.

- Sven Baertschi and his girlfriend Laura locked themselves in a dog cage last week to raise money for the BC SPCA. Bo Horvat tried to say “C’mon” but typed “Common” instead but we’ll forgive him because he seems like a nice young man

- Here is new Canuck Philip Larsen with a cake version of himself. I like that the cake-Larsen is wearing a toque. Larsen’s hometown seems very excited about his return to the NHL and the cake is adorable.

- Now seems like as good a time as any to bring up the fact that Erik Gudbranson has a Hatebreed lyric tattooed on his torso.
