WWYDW: Miller Time?

Feb 1, 2017, 11:00 ESTUpdated:
The Canucks are in the midst of their bye week, so there haven’t been many games to stew over since last week. That means we’ll be gearing up for the home stretch- and the ugliest part of the Canucks schedule.
The Canucks have been hanging in there this season, mainly due to hot goaltending. Ryan Miller has been outstanding thus far, posting a .920 save percentage on the season. There’s an elephantg in the room that needs to be addressed by the end of the season, however: Miller’s age, and the Canucks lack of a succession plan. Jacob Markstrom has played 23 games this season, and it remains unclear if he’s ready to take on a starter’s workload.
How would you handle the Canucks goaltending situation? Do you re-sign Ryan Miller? Let him walk? Trade him? Who’s the starter next season? Don’t be afraid to get creative and suggest free agents if it suits you.
Last week I asked: Do you think Subban should get a shot while he’s up with the big club? Why or why not? If you want him to play, who would you take out of the lineup?
Dirk22:
Yes he should get a shot – why not see what you have. People keep saying Stetcher makes him redundant but why? If he can play, he can play – obviously he seems to have some defensive deficiencies so maybe he won’t make it but don’t count him out just because Stetcher has emerged. For all the good Stetcher has done, it’s not like the PP is clicking with him running the show. Give Biega a seat in the press box for a couple games and lets have a look. That being said, prob not gonna happen with ‘win-now’ Willie in charge.
clutch fan:
From a fan perspective, of course Jordan should play, and I am sure the GM would also really like to see him in action just to see what we have there.
For WD, if he doesn’t win, he’s likely gone, so he won’t play Jordan unless he has to, especially since the D have been mostly good (in my opinion).
Not that he has been playing too bad, but Biega would be the one to come out of the line-up, lowest on depth chart and not too young either.
tyhee:
Unilke most Canucks fans, I generally agree with WD’s approach of treating callups as depth and putting his best lineup on the ice.
His defensive play in Utica hasn’t indicated he’s ready. I’d plan on his first actual NHL game action coming next season unless someone isn’t healthy enough to go.
