In what’s become something of a tradition for the Willie Desjardins era Vancouver Canucks, the club notified teenaged forwards Jared McCann and Jake Virtanen on Sunday that they were remaining in the NHL past the nine-game barrier. The twist: the club elected to do so during a video meeting in which they first brutally tore McCann and Virtanen’s performances to shreds.
Well now we can watch the video!

From what I’ve heard, most of the incident was captured using go-pros and mounted cameras, and a goodly portion of the audio was rendered unusable.
The above video is still hilarious and charming and awesome, but it’s an abridged version of what actually went down in terms of the criticism lobbed at Virtanen and McCann by Desjardins and their Canucks teammates. In actual fact, the Canucks’ coach and their fellow players ripped the young forwards way more harshly than you’ll see in the video.
How far did Desjardins go? This seems like a pretty good example:
McCann even admitted that he was about to shed a tear or two.
“They were ripping me so hard,” McCann told the club’s official Twitter feed. “I almost started to cry. Then Horvat said we made the team. It was a special moment.”
Well dry your eyes, kids. And welcome to the show.
