Focht — who was a fifth round pick of the Canucks in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft — will likely report to the Utica Comets this season and could make an appearance at training camp beforehand.
Focht played the last three seasons with the Calgary Hitmen of the WHL and scored 32 goals while tallying 24 assists in 61 games during the 2019-20 campaign.
A hard-working centre, Focht is going to attempt to make the big jump from junior to the AHL. We’ve already seen prospects like Kole Lind and Jonah Gadjovich need a year to get themselves acclimated before they start to look comfortable, and the same could be in store in Focht.
Regardless, we’ll have you covered on Focht’s progression — along with everyone else on the Comets’ roster — all season long, as Cory Hergott is back covering the Comets for CanucksArmy.
