Canucks rank 10th in Daily Faceoff’s prospect pool rankings

The Vancouver Canucks‘ prospect pool saw a massive makeover in June after the organization made nine selections in the 2026 NHL Draft, the most since the 2019 draft, held in Vancouver. With the new installment of youth, the Canucks’ prospect pool got a massive boost in Daily Faceoff’s prospect pool rankings.

On Tuesday, Daily Faceoff prospect expert Steven Ellis released his rankings of the top prospect pools across the NHL. Last season, he ranked the Canucks 28th, but this season, they rose to 10th. Here is what Ellis had to say about his Canucks rankings:

“It was hard to not feel bad for them when the possibility of landing Gavin McKenna first overall was ripped away on a fateful night in May. But after one heck of a draft, the Canucks’ pipeline honestly looks impressive – and easily one of the most improved in the league. Four players taken in the top two rounds this year appear on this list, and another three below have NHL experience already. The pipeline is starting to come together, and while there’s still a ton of work to make this team truly competitive again, they’re off to a good start. The future, eventually, will be better, Canucks fans. But for now, all aboard the Landon DuPont train.”

Here was Ellis’ full top-10 ranking:

1. Chicago Blackhawks
2. San Jose Sharks
3. Calgary Flames
4. Nashville Predators
5. Utah Mammoth
6. Detroit Red Wings
7. Washington Capitals
8. Montreal Canadiens
9. St. Louis Blues
10. Vancouver Canucks

The year-over-year elevation in the rankings can be attributed to the high-end talent the Canucks nabbed in June. Vancouver held four selections in the top 41 picks, and selected centreman Caleb Malhotra at third overall, winger Adam Novotny at 24th overall – a part of the Quinn Hughes trade with the Minnesota Wild – centreman Brooks Rogowski at 33rd overall, and winger Niklas Aaram-Olsen at 41st overall – a part of the Kiefer Sherwood trade with the San Jose Sharks.

Canucks fans will have an opportunity to see Adam Novotny and Brooks Rogowski over the coming weeks, first at the prospect showcase against the Seattle Kraken on September 12 and 13, followed by their first NHL training camp in Penticton the following weekend. Malhotra and Aaram-Olsen, however, will have begun their school year at Boston University and will not be in attendance.
