Penticton, BC – After 158 days, the Vancouver Canucks are back tonight with a preseason match against the Seattle Kraken.
What we know
The Canucks revealed their inaugural roster that they will be sending to Seattle:
Game Group:
Forwards: Danila Klimovich, Arshdeep Bains, Joseph LaBate, Drew O’Connor, Nils Höglander, Jonathan Lekkerimäki, Kiefer Sherwood, Teddy Blueger, Chase Stillman, Filip Chytil, Braeden Cootes, and Nils Aman.
Defencemen: Tom Willander, PO Joseph, Elias Pettersson, Sawyer Mynio, Jimmy Schuldt, Parker Alcos, and Victor Mancini.
Goalies: Nikita Tolopilo, and Ty Young.
Looking into the roster, we can make educated guesses on what the lines will look like based on how they lined up in the first three days of training camp.
CanucksArmy’s projected lineup vs. Kraken:

Vancouver’s 2025 first-round pick Braeden Cootes made a great first impression in training camp, and will be rewarded with getting game action in a familiar place, where he captains the Seattle Thunderbirds. The Canucks sent his two linemates, Bains and Sherwood, from training camp with him, to give the 18-year-old some comfortability in his first professional game. The trio scored the first two goals of yesterday’s scrimmage, and will look to carry that success over tonight.
Chytil and Lekkerimäki skated alongside each other throughout training camp, and should be a pair to watch for their speed and skill in Seattle.
On defence, Canucks fans will get their first look at 2023 first-round pick, Tom Willander. It will be interesting to watch him in his first professional game, and how he fends against bigger competition. Pettersson and Mancini are two other players to watch, as they are the other two promising young Canucks defencemen that are vying for a spot on the blueline for opening night.
The presumed Abbotsford tandem, Tolopilo and Young, will head to Seattle to defend the crease.
The rest of the Canucks are skating here in Penticton. Currently running through similar rush drills from the first two days of training camp.
The opponent
The Kraken have yet to release their game day roster, but make sure to check back here for updates on their roster!
One player we know won’t be inn the lineup is former Canucks first-round pick, Jared McCann, as the Kraken announced he is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.
#SeaKraken injury update: Jared McCann is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. Nathan Villeneuve is out for the remainder of training camp with a lower-body injury.
UPDATE: Kraken’s roster
Seattle released its roster for tonight’s preseason game:
Here are the rosters for tonight's #SEAKraken - #Canucks game:
