<p>Saturday&#8217;s game will mark the first of 18 games this season where the beloved alternate jerseys will be worn by the Canucks at Rogers Arena. It is an <a href="https://canucksarmy.com/news/vancouver-canucks-to-wear-flying-skate-jersey-15-times-in-2023-24-season" target="_blank" rel="noopener">increase of three games compared to the 15 times</a> it was used during the 2023-24 season. Of the 16 teams Vancouver will face while donning the Black Skate, the Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks will play against them twice this campaign.</p>
<p>Knowing that the Canucks will get to wear these alternates for roughly 44% of their home games is no doubt going to get fans feeling excited that these timeless classics will stick around for another year. Since being <a href="https://canucksarmy.com/news/watch-canucks-tease-black-skate-returning-feb-24-calgary-hype-video" target="_blank" rel="noopener">brought back into circulation</a> late in the 2021-22 season, these sweaters have remained a fan favourite for young and old fans as they harken back to some of their glory days in the 1990s.</p>
<p>They were so popular that fans called for the team to <a href="https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/canucks-black-skate-jersey-playoffs-yes" target="_blank" rel="noopener">make it their home jersey for the 2024 playoffs</a>, which unfortunately did not come to fruition. However, the fact that they are going to be used more certainly suggests the Cancuks are making the fans&#8217; prayers answered, so maybe it could become a reality this spring should they qualify for the postseason.</p>
