That’s right, folks, there’s finally reason for optimism when it comes to the Vancouver Canucks’ contract negotiations with Elias Pettersson and Quinn Hughes.
The contracts aren’t done yet, but the Canucks and CAA made progress this morning in reaching agreements for the Canucks’ two franchise players.
This comes from a report from Thomas Drance of The Athletic on Twitter:
Sources indicate to @TheAthletic that the Canucks and CAA made progress this morning in Elias Pettersson, Quinn Hughes talks. Don’t call it a breakthrough (yet), but there’s optimism that Vancouver and their two cornerstone players are inching toward a resolution at last.
With the Canucks’ season opener now less than two weeks away, the two sides certainly want to find a resolution sooner, rather than later.
The Canucks know how important Hughes and Pettersson are to their team, but they also know how badly the two players want to get back to Vancouver.
Darren Dreger also tweeted the following shortly after Drance’s report:
We’ll keep you posted with the latest as talks continue to progress.
