The Vancouver Canucks are set to name Bruce Boudreau as their next head coach, according to a report from Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.
The Canucks’ 4-1 loss last night resulted in the team getting booed off the ice, a jersey thrown onto the ice, and “fire Benning” chants that were loud enough for the TV broadcast to pick up.
Last night’s gave the feeling that change was finally coming, and now it’s reportedly come.
Boudreau, 66, last served as an NHL coach in the 2017-18 season when he was head coach of the Minnesota Wild.
The Canucks have not yet announced anything officially.
UPDATE 6:21 PM: Darren Dreger of TSN is reporting that Scott Walker will be joining the Canucks, which would suggest the Canucks’ have fired more members of their coaching staff than just Travis Green.
UPDATE 10:30 PM: The Vancouver Canucks have officially announced the changes. You can read Francesco Aquilini’s statement by clicking here.
