Viva Las Vegas! The Canucks played their much-anticipated first game at T-Mobile Arena by the densely populated Las Vegas Strip this week. They lost, but I doubt that came as a surprise considering Vegas’ home ice curse… I mean advantage. Here are my ranking of each player’s week:
1. Daniel Sedin
He’s still going strong from last week! He has 9 points in his last 7 games
2. Henrik Sedin
One can’t rank Daniel and not have Henrik right ahead (or behind) him. Henrik hasn’t been playing too bad himself with 4 points in his last 5 games.
3. Jacob Markstrom
He came off an injury yesterday and put on a 40-save performance in Arizona. What remedies did this guy use?
4. Darren Archibald
He scored a nice goal yesterday:
5. Brock Boeser
He turned 21 yesterday!
HBD Prince Charming @BBoeser16 👑🍻🎉
7. Alex Edler
He tried to be like Jacob Markstrom, but failed. At least he tried, though.
Edler can't help himself
8. Derrick Pouliot
He made a nice pass to Daniel yesterday:
HENRIK SEDIN WITH THE SPINNING BACKHAND TO DERRICK POULIOT WHO HANDS IT TO DANIEL SEDIN WHO SCOOOORES! WOW!
9. Bo Horvat, Brandon Sutter, Ben Hutton and Jacob Markstrom (again)
They looked like a group of lawyers who just won a big case:
10. Erik Gudbranson
He dresses nice and looks like a model, even when someone’s chasing him down for an autograph:
11: Sam Gagner
Just look at this pass:
Sam Gagner with a sensational sauce pass over Luca Sbisa right onto the tape for Sven Baertschi to tap in. #Canucks
12: Sven Baertschi
Because he loves being a Vancouver Canuck:
Canucks: Asking for a trade proved to be Baertschi's best career move ebx.sh/2BTAqam
13: Anders Nilsson
Because he’s a great guy!
Did you know that Anders Nilsson was the first NHL goalie to sport a pride flag on his mask? Nilsson was also recently recognized at a prestigious Swedish gala for promoting diversity with his mask's artwork. Full story here: ply.rs/qnP030ivHPK #HockeyIsForEveryone
14. Jake Virtanen
He looks okay too:
15. Michael Del Zotto
Because of the subtle statistics:
Haven't heard his name in trade rumours, but I wonder if Del Zotto gets interest from other teams. Just one more year left on his contract ($3M), 2nd in #Canucks d-men points. Terrible advanced stats, but leads team in hits, 2nd in blocked shots.
You know what, Del Zotto is low key a sneaky tough bastard. Guy engages in lots of battles. Doesn't make huge open ice hits, but after watching him for the season so far, gotta give him credit for not shying away from much.
16. Troy Stecher
I felt bad for him after this:
17. Nic Dowd
🙁
Nic Dowd just 5 shifts tonight. 3 in first. 2 in second.
18. Alex Biega
He played once this week.
19. Brendan Gaunce, Markus Granlund, Chris Tanev
They’re injured, which sucks.
20. Thomas Vanek
I feel like the trade deadline is his worst time of the year. He’s been with 7 teams in 8 years… yikes…
21. Philip Holm
He finally got his break, but then he was a healthy scratch again.
