The moment that many fans have been waiting for will finally arrive tonight, as the Vancouver Canucks have confirmed that Jake Virtanen will make his NHL debut against the Los Angeles Kings.

The rumour mill started spinning today with this tweet from Virtanen’s brother, who wished Jake good luck ahead of puck drop. There was only one problem, though; there had been no indication leaning towards the Canucks making a lineup change. In fact, things leaned in the opposite direction, as Virtanen participated in an optional skate that involved just four players this morning.
“It’s pretty exciting to get my 1st game and in such a cool place.” Virtanen will make his NHL debut tonight in LA.

The concern was all for nothing, however, as the team soon confirmed that he would play. DailyFaceoff has him on a line with Jared McCann and Alex Burrows, though nothing has been confirmed just yet in that regard.
It’ll be interesting to see what Virtanen can do. He’s looked impressive at times, but as the rosters have gotten bigger and older, he’s lost a bit of his physical dominance. Hopefully we get to see a murder or two, or even better, some goals on the board.
Puck drop is at 7:00 PM.
