The biggest news of the day isn’t Canucks related, but it’s worth discussing. The New York Islanders have announced that they will be moving to Brooklyn for the 2015-16 season. As Sean Leahy points out, the deal will span 25 years, and the Islanders will keep their same name and logo. I’m fine with this news, as long as it means that Brooklyn will show up as ‘BRO’ on the sports ticker.

The following story is real mind-boggling. I spent some time trying to wrap my head around it, and the only thing to come of it was a headache that I didn’t particularly need. It turns out that the NHLPA requested a meeting for today, only to be turned down by the NHL. ONE DOES NOT SIMPLY REQUEST A MEETING WITH GARY BETTMAN. Even if we’re a day away from the idea of an 82-game season being scrapped.

Dale Weise is a freakin’ superstar. He’s basically the Max Talbot of the Dutch league. Recently, he came up with a 6-point game, which raises the question – how many points would you be able to conjure up if you happened to lace up the skates in the Dutch league?

Pass it to Bulis is spitballin’ about a variety of topics, which include the new James Bond movie, Dale Weise, and a hilarious story about Jay Feaster – which I can vouch for, because I was present as it unfolded. 

Another topic that is discussed is the Fake Season that you’re probably all far too familiar with. This time around, numerous (fake) trade proposals are discussed, and the highlights for the tilt against Columbus are shown. The Blue Jackets actually beat the Canucks, further reinforcing the fact that we’re dealing with a fake season.

A day wouldn’t be complete without some Roberto Luongo trade talk, and speculation. This time around though, it has to do with the Edmonton Oilers, and not the Toronto Maple Leafs. On Oilers Nation, Jason Gregor wonders whether Roberto Luongo can still be an effective goalie, and whether it makes sense for the Oilers to pursue him. Jonathan Willis on the other hand, sees it as sort of a no-brainer.
