Headshots October 11th

Oct 11, 2012, 18:11 EDTUpdated: Oct 11, 2012, 13:04 EDT

Headshots are a Canucks Army feature where we link to the day’s freshest news, and other assorted Canucks web-goodies. If you’ve written a blogpost, produced a tribute video, birthed a clever .gif into existence, or have a hockey related cause that you’d like to see promoted in this space – please e-mail Thom at thom.drance@gmail.com.
Above is David Booth’s latest "conquest", which he tweeted out this afternoon. The following message accompanied it: "there’s only one trophy harder to get than this.. and I’m getting that next." He’s either talking about the Stanley Cup, or some mystical animal that none of us have ever heard of. One of those sounds more appealing than the other.
Tonight was supposed to be the regular season opener for the Canucks, in the form of a tilt against the rival Calgary Flames. If that doesn’t make you sad, then I’m not sure we can continue to be cyber friends anymore.
There’s other things to do, though, as Thomas Drance points out. What he neglected to mention was that The Stanchion’s Fake Canucks Season will be live-streaming its season opener tonight, at 7pm PST. Tune in, if you’re one of those poor souls that have nothing better to do.
Roberto Luongo’s Twitter account is absolutely spectacular. Everyone knows that, so it’s not exactly "the day’s freshest news". But he really killed it today, with a couple of golden tweets. If other athletes were able to show off their wit, and sense of humour in this manner, maybe I’d be following more of them. The way it stands now, I don’t even bother, because I know if they say anything even remotely worthwhile, it will be retweeted into my timeline.

Sh!t just got real break! Today, news broke that Los Angeles Kings reporter Rich Hammond was essentially told by the league to stop interviewing players. After he posted an interview with Kevin Westgarth, the league asked for it to be taken down. Well, then.
Chalk the following up as something that I wish I was making up – Pass it to Bulis gives us an in-depth look at Eddie Lack’s new pads. Why? Because that’s the kind of stuff that matters these days. Have I mentioned that tonight was supposed to be the start of the 2012-13 NHL season?
As Cam Charron writes, the only reasonable long-term solution to the NHL’s labour dispute is a luxury tax. It’s a thought-provoking idea, that definitely makes sense. And anything that helps prevent a lockout from occuring every seven years works for me.
