Friday Mailbag – And We’re Off

Oct 9, 2015, 20:59 EDTUpdated:

The season is underway! No more speculation as to who is in or out. No more goals that don’t actually matter. No more three-on-three overtimes after your team already lost by three. Just pure, emotion causing hockey. It’s the best, the worst, and the best type of worst. Let’s talk about it!
@JGarrettsMuzzy asked: Will Chris Higgins be traded this year?
It’s funny; I had him as a “sell if you’re bad in late February” candidate at the start of the year, but at this point, there are so many available forwards that I wouldn’t be shocked if the team at least explored the possibility the moment he comes off the injured reserve. He’s a solid depth player but appears replaceable on this team. If you can grab picks or prospects for him, it’s not a terrible idea.
@CataCarryOn asked: Was Ben Hutton everything that you wanted him to be and more in his regular season debut?
A very good start for Ben, no doubt. Controlled the game on both ends of the ice, picked up his first point, and just looked like he belongs. Hopefully, this is the start of something special.
@KeithTheHawk asked: What kind of toppings would a Spizza have?
A solidified blend of cat urine, bud light, and gasoline, placed carefully around broken apart Nickelback album and rocks of Bath Salts. Oh, and Black Olives. I don’t like black olives.
@Berg75Tyler asked: When does Vrbata get traded so Virtanen can get his career started?
Selling him while he has value wouldn’t be a terrible idea from an asset management perspective, especially if you buy into this team being in slow-trickle rebuild. But it shouldn’t be directly to give Virtanen a “chance to get his career” started; you want your youth to earn their roles, not have them handed to them.
@JDylanBurke asked: When will JD Burke get promoted? Can JD Burke have an intern?
Congratulations to JD Burke, who has new been associated to special tasks editor. The role involves no writing and requires him to edit every piece of written or social content of Josh Weissbock. His intern is Josh Weissbock, who will constantly throw ideas at him that JD is not allowed to write about while editing Josh’s work.
