For the second time this season, Elias Pettersson has been named the First Star of the Week in the NHL
With his five-point performance on Sunday afternoon, Pettersson ended the week with two goals and six assists in three games for the Canucks.
Despite missing six games earlier in the year, Pettersson has leapfrogged Bo Horvat for the most points on the Canucks with 30 on the season. Pettersson also leads the Canucks in goals and assists with 15 each.
The chemistry that Brock Boeser and Pettersson have shown has Canucks fans excited about what the future may hold. EP40 already has two five-point games this season and is the sixth rookie since 1967 to do so, with both of them coming when Boeser and he were pairing up together on a line. It gives the organization a real top line that appears to be able to produce at the drop of the hat. Now it’s just a matter of finding a great match for the third player on the line or just rotate through others to keep things fresh. Either way, the two have made Canucks games appointment TV and Pettersson is being rightfully rewarded for his standout performance.
The Canucks take on the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday at 4 PM PT.
