Chris Tanev Leaves Game with Injury

By Vanessa Jang
Jan 6, 2017, 22:58 ESTUpdated:
At the 7:03 mark of the first period vs. Calgary, Chris Tanev left the bench with an apparent upper-body injury.
By the looks of the play, Tanev was impacted by a Dougie Hamilton point shot in the shoulder region. He subsequently left the bench and has not yet returned. At the same time, he appears to be speared by Alex Chiasson. It is unknown what exactly the injury is, but the Canucks are now without their top defensive defenseman. Having just stepped back into the line-up after an ankle injury, the Canucks’ record and play has vastly improved with Tanev on the ice. Luca Sbisa took shifts with Alex Edler in light of Tanev’s absence.
The Canucks have announced that he will not return.
