Canucks won’t move their pick, will draft 7th overall

There had been some speculation that the Canucks could move their No. 7 overall selection in tonight’s draft, either as part of a package to acquire a player to help right now or to move down to acquire more draft picks, but that can be put to bed. According to Iain MacIntyre, the Canucks will be selecting seventh overall.
We obviously have no idea which players are going to be available for the Canucks at No. 7 overall, but given the makeup of this draft, they’ll have a good prospect available at that spot. Also, given Jim Benning’s history, the Canucks are better off using their pick to draft a player than they are using their pick as part of a trade.
