Vancouver Canucks defenceman Tyler Myers has been added to the COVID protocols list, the team announced Saturday morning.
The team has been trying to contain the virus from spreading throughout their locker room since Monday when they found out about their first COVID-positive player, Luke Schenn.
The Canucks will be without Tucker Poolman, Schenn, and now Myers as well when they face the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight at 4 PM.
The Leafs added John Tavares and Alex Kerfoot to their COVID protocol list yesterday as well.
Losing Myers is perhaps the biggest blow the Canucks have been dealt this year, as the veteran rearguard was playing of some of the best hockey of his career and was playing crucial minutes for the club on a nightly basis.
The Canucks have signed and called up Ashton Sautner from the Abbotsford Canucks, and he is expected to play tonight in Myers’ absence.
Puck drop against Toronto is at 4 PM.
