Canucks Sign Andrew Raycroft

Jul 6, 2009, 15:39 EDTUpdated: Oct 8, 2009, 01:37 EDT
The Canucks have signed ex-Avalanche goaltender Andrew Raycroft to a contract.
In 2003-04, Raycroft played 57 games for the Boston Bruins, posting a 29-18-9 record along with a 2.05 GAA and .926 SV% and he went on to win the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s Rookie of the Year. It’s been downhill ever since, as this handy list demonstrates:
- 2005-06: 8-19-2, 3.71 GAA, .879 SV%
- 2006-07: 37-25-9, 2.99 GAA, .894 SV%
- 2007-08: 2-9-5, 3.92 GAA, .876 SV%
- 2008-09: 12-16-0, 3.14 GAA, .892 SV%
Last season, Raycroft ranked 43rd out of 47 goaltenders to play enough games to be counted over at the NHL’s save percentage listing. Fortunately for the Canucks, he’ll probably get plenty of time to perfect that in-game nap seen above.
