Canucks recall G Michael Garteig; Ryan Miller has the flu

Nov 17, 2016, 13:28 ESTUpdated:
It was announced this morning that the Canucks have recalled goaltender Michael Garteig from the Alaska Aces of the ECHL:
This move was necessitated by Ryan Miller having the flu, which Matt Sekeres revealed on twitter
As Sekeres mentions, Alaska is closer to Vancouver than Utica thus it ensures that the Canucks will have a back-up goaltender to Jacob Markstrom today, rather than having to rely on an emergency back-up for the second time this season.
Garteig has had a fairly good start to his professional career, posting a 5-1-0 record 2.52 GAA and 0.916 SV% with the Aces. Garteig was signed as a free agent this past April after leading Quinnipiac University to the NCAA finals.
Unless something happens to Markstrom, Garteig will be ride the pine tonight and then be sent back to Alaska once Miller feels better.
