A day after the Canucks recalled defenceman Patrick Wiercioch from the Utica Comets, they’ve sent him back down for reassignment. Wiercioch joined the Canucks in the wake of Erik Gudbranson’s one-game suspension for boarding Frank Vatrano in Thursday’s game against the Boston Bruins.
With the Canucks playing in Buffalo yesterday, the close proximity to their farm team in Utica meant that Wiercioch was actually able to join the team ahead of yesterday’s game.
In two games with the Comets this season, Wiercioch has one goal. He joins a veteran-heavy blue line in time for their match with the Rochester Americans at 4:05 Pacific time. Check back later tonight, for a full post-game recap from Canucks Army contributor Cory Hergott.
