I’m liking the way that Jonathan Lekkerimäki (#88) is moving in the offensive zone today. He’s being slippery against his checks in the offensive zone and has some confidence with the puck on his stick. I like the way he is working for space around the net. #CanucksProspect

Nothing gets you more excited for the upcoming hockey season than SHL preseason action in August.
A few of the Vancouver Canucks’ prospects have been in action for the past couple of weeks as the SHL kicked off their preseason earlier this month.
2022 first-round pick Jonathan Lekkerimäki has been looking great with his new club, Örebro. Lekkerimäki joined the club earlier this summer after his Allsvenskan team was not promoted to the SHL after losing in the Allsvenskan playoff finals.
The red and black jerseys have unlocked a higher level of Lekkerimäki, and he scored his second goal of the SHL preseason on Wednesday.
Lekkerimäki played right wing on the third line in Wednesday’s preseason game. Fellow Canucks’ prospect Elias Pettersson (D-Petey) was not in the lineup for Örebro, likely just because of preseason lineups.
Getting a goal is obviously great but we saw a lot of other things in Lekkerimäki’s game that we liked on Wednesday.
The confidence that we missed last season is showing up in droves early in the SHL preseason. The 19-year-old Lekkerimäki is doing a good job of playing slippery in the offensive zone and working his way to the high-danger areas of the ice — as you can see on his goal clip.
Örebro is using Lekkerimäki on the power play and he has moved up from a fourth-line role to a third-line role from last week to this current week.
Örebro is back in action on Friday and we expect to see D-Petey draw back into the lineup and give us a double dose of Canucks prospects.
It’s a big year Lekkerimäki and he’s showing well in his early returns with Örebro.
We will have you covered on Friday if anything happens with the Canucks’ prospects.
