The Vancouver Canucks are just hours away from puck drop against the Pittsburgh Penguins at home.
Ahead of their second game in 24 hours — the Canucks picked up their first win of the season last night in Seattle — head coach Bruce Boudreau spoke with the media.
Boudreau confirmed that Spencer Martin will be in goal tonight, and that other than that, his lineup will remain unchanged from last night’s victory.
That means that (aside from Demko, obviously) the Canucks’ lineup will look something like this tonight.
Boudreau revealed that the newly acquired Jack Studicka has arrived in Vancouver, but that he didn’t think it would be fair to put him into the lineup tonight without giving him a chance to get acclimated with the Canucks’ systems first. Plus, Studicka only arrived late last night after the Canucks’ afternoon trade with the Boston Bruins that saw Michael DiPietro and Jonathan Myrenberg go the Bruins’ way.
Ethan Bear won’t be arriving until tomorrow, so he won’t be in the lineup tonight, either.
On today’s episode of Canucks Conversation, InGoal Magazine’s Kevin Woodley spoke about the preparedness level of the Penguins heading into tonight; stating that the Penguins have already been in Vancouver for two days, and had a hard practice to prepare for this game after being dealt their first two regulation losses of the season vs. the Oilers and Flames.
This is not going to be an easy game for the Canucks by any means, and with their backup goaltender in net for the second leg of back-to-back games, they’ll need to be sharp right from the get-go.
Puck drop is at 7 PM from Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
