Fast Facts
> Stay on the Road: Before this road trip, there were whispers suggesting the Canucks were prime for a downfall. Suddenly vulnerable in regulation, rampant injuries, the top six blanked on the scoresheet, and so on. Only problem is Vancouver has used this four game winning streak to flex their depth: Malhotra’s line has come alive, Schneider pitched his first shutout and won an amazing one in San Jose, the defense has held strong (Hamhuis scoring? Rome’s TOI?!) and finally the Sedins woke up, chipping in a collective 14 points during the current winning streak. Since we’re in Calgary, we may as well reference Chris Higgins, who played well in his first game against the Sharks: nearly 13 minutes TOI, including ample PP time and provided a clutch screen on Salo’s PP marker in the first.
> Always Nice To See Our Friends In Cowtown:
Next to San Jose, Calgary has been the one of the hottest teams in the conference, pulling themselves up from the depths of the league in December into a dogfight for one of the last playoff spots. As usual, Iginla is leading the charge (66 pts), Tanguay is shooting at an eye-popping 19.1% and even Jokinen has become less comically putrid than previous years have provided us. Bouwmeester/Regher handle the tough minutes, but Vancouver’s eyes should light up when they see the Staois/Babchuk pairing jump over the boards. Though his numbers have taken a dip from last season, Kiprusoff is still the man to beat and is .500 lifetime against Vancouver (20-20-6, .887 GAA, 3.23 GAA). Is this a potential first round match-up?
> Impress Your Friends With Knowledge!: Henrik Sedin is one assist away from 500 for his career. If curious, Daniel Sedin needs 10 more for 400.
