CANUCKS ARMY SCF GDT# 13 – CANUCKS VS. BRUINS (HNIC)

The Canucks go into the 2011 Stanley Cup Final leading the series 7 games to 5. In the mean time, most recently, the Bruins lost last night to the Flames in OT and the Canucks well, they just haven’t won. Now would be a good time to revisit the hate for a Bruins team that robbed Vancouver of not only a Cup but the sanity we once had before it all went down. If Canucks fans needed a reason to believe their team isn’t as bad as the Oilers or Flames (both 4 points back of Vancouver), today would be the day.

After some extensive reading and figure outing, it looks like Ben Hutton is back and if that doesn’t hit ya right in the feels, you are a sick sick human being. Chris Tanev also should be in. Virtanen and Sutter are also out and by the looks of their play lately, Hamhuis could use a breather, Edler too! Im at a loss for who would make up those minutes but you get my point. It was nice to see Kenins back, but crunching a guy in the numbers isn’t the best way to keep that spot.
Jacob Markstrom gets an early Christmas gift and will start against the Bruins. This is it, don’t get scared now – Kevin McCallister

As the homer typing this out, we all know what I’m about to say: wouldn’t it be nice to see Landon Ferraro in the lineup tonight to play against the team he grew up watching. Stay tuned today to see if that is updated. There isn’t much else going on with the Bruins, lineup wise, but I can tell you that Brad Marchand scored a shorthanded penalty shot last night. His nose has already done the pre game skate. Poor guy.
Jonas Gustavsson got lit up so it would be safe to say Tuuka Rask would start.

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME
  • Even though its long over, this isn’t just another game: its the Bruins. As fans, we still hold this team to some ridiculous regard because we think the teams get up for it as much as we do. Brad Marchand and Zdeno Chara are basically the only guys to still hate. But its the Bruins, we can’t forget, its still fresh.
  • As Willie said yesterday, this game is a “must”. What that means is anyone’s guess but if you said must win, must not blow a lead, must play 60 minutes, must #playforthis, must-er up literally anything beyond what they have shown for the last month; all of those would be correct.
  • This season, the Canucks are 1-1-2 in the second game of their opponents back to backs. Vancouver has beaten the Hawks, lost outright to the Devils and lost in OT to the Devils again and the Red Wings. We don’t have to relive those but seriously, the second game of their OPPONENTS back to back? When tired teams are beating the Canucks, there’s more than just who they aren’t starting in net that is a problem.
  • The Bruins lost a heart breaker in Calgary last night and with that wound still fresh, the Canucks will want to pounce. Both the Cleveland Browns and Detroit Lions have put up stinkers this week and hopefully the Canucks won’t be the third team to make that list.
  • Your A94 Fancy Stat of the Day: Last season @ home vs. the Bruins the Canucks had a PDO of 107.9 which is fitting because they have regressed since then. See? These stats DO work! They also had a CP60 of 112.4. They are definitely not generating as much this year Thank you to war-on-ice.com for your numbers!
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
<blockquote class=”twitter-tweet” lang=”en”><p lang=”en” dir=”ltr”>Asked Claude Julien abt Zdeno Chara&#39;s turnover in OT leading to gm-winner. His answer: &quot;Did you talk to him? Ok…so you&#39;ve got your answer&quot;</p>&mdash; Joe Haggerty (@HackswithHaggs) <a href=”https://twitter.com/HackswithHaggs/status/673009193280888832″>December 5, 2015</a></blockquote>

So Edler isn’t the only one that does these things?
MY TAKE
If this was another game, I could say something like the Canucks don’t deserve to win or that they’re going to have to step it up but an OTL is most likely; but this is the Bruins and I hate the Bruins. The Canucks need to pull out all the stops and let Kenins commit “murders” ala Virtanen. It may not be pretty but the Canucks need to “must”. They MUST win this game. Vancity takes this one 5-3.
