Canucks Army Podcast – Episode 3 – 2016-2017

In the third episode of this season’s Canucks Army Podcast, J.D. Burke and myself try to make sense of the Jake Virtanen situation. It’s difficult to find a silver lining when it comes to Virtanen but we have to remember he’s still a young player who needs guidance and time to find his footing as an NHL player, and we agree Utica is the best landing spot (recording was made before the news of Virtanen’s demotion was announced today).
Willie Desjardins’ job security, or lack thereof is discussed, but we view it in light of the bigger picture and the significance of a coaching change as it relates to the direction the Canucks are undertaking as an organization.
In light of the Canucks improving chances of landing another high draft pick, we take a look at the 2017 NHL entry draft class and tell you whether talk of this being a relatively weak draft is justified.
We also take on some listener questions, which leads to trade talk and whether there is enough within this Canucks organization to be optimistic about the future.
There’s more, but have a listen instead, it’s far more interesting than reading a recap:
