CANUCKS ARMY PLAYOFF GDT # 5 – CANUCKS VS. FLAMES

By Always90four

FLAMES LEAD SERIES 3-1
Have you calmed down yet? Have you stepped off the ledge? The Vancouver Canucks have dug themselves quite a hole in the series and haven’t shown they can climb out. But you know what, it’s time to suck it up, Canucks fans!
So what if they’re down 3-1; its happened plenty of times in the team’s history. We could all complain about how bad the team has been or why we REALLY DON’T CARE that Sam Bennett is 18 years old and awesome; this is Game 5, it’s in Vancouver, and if you think it’s over tonight you’re dead wrong! We are all Canucks? You’re FLIPPIN right we are!

Alex Burrows is out for the rest of the series and that totally sucks. Ryan Miller wasn’t really tested in Game 4 and has been given the nod for this evening’s tilt. Looks like Hansen with the Twins again, and Sven with Vrby and Bones. Baertschi will make his playoff debut against his former team, so #svengence will be ours!

Jonas Hiller gets the start and other than that, no real surprises, the team’s up 3 games to 1.
REASONS TO WATCH THIS PLAYOFF GAME
- After a dismal showing in both Games 3 and 4, home ice may be what turns this around. I’m not prepared to end this one yet.
- Sven Baertschi will be ready to pwn (is that still a thing?) the Flames. If there is any kind of story that plays in our favour, hopefully this is it. Willie has managed a good lineup all season, it would be a shame to see things slide….more than they already have.
- Simple stat fact: Jannik Hansen, Ronalds Kenins, Shawn Matthias and Bo Horvat lead the Canucks in shooting%. At the very least, give them some more ice time. The fancy stats may speak against this but honestly, how have these guys not been given more chances? They’re the only ones scoring!
- When your team is down, you look for anything to gain a boost. We all know U2 is in town and Vancouver has employed a certain “streets” tune as it’s entry theme. Rogers Arena has been decently vocal in the playoffs so far and having Bono and Edge slay it as
Roberto Luongo Ryan MillerEddie Lack leads the Canucks on to the ice would be something everyone would be talking about tomorrow. - The combo of Kevin Bieksa and Luca Sbisa has been downright awful.
- Hockey has a funny way of evening things out. Yes, the Canucks have not shown much hope that they will turn this series around but THIS IS CALGARY!!! YOU JUST DON’T LOSE TO CALGARY! We’re all suckers for punishment and whether you believe it’s over or not, WATCH THIS GAME.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
MY TAKE
There isn’t much left to hope for; giveaways galore, too many screened goals and aside from Game 2, deflected goals have been the only contribution for the Canucks. Game 5 is tonight. It’s HERE. C’mon Willie, give us the lineup that wins this thing, it’s there, I know it is. I’ll be watching at 7 bells and you should be too. No more second chances. This is it. Canucks 2, Flames 1. Game 6 is Saturday.
