So, who among you had the San Jose Sharks and St. Louis Blues meeting each other in the Western Conference Finals? I know I sure as hell didn’t, and I’ve a massive soft spot for the Sharks.
Seriously though, how great would it be for Joe Thornton to raise the cup? I’m going to suggest it would be very great. Then again, perhaps I’m getting ahead of myself. This is a Vancouver Canucks blog, after all. Then again, perhaps the Sharks are the best-case scenario for the Canucks as they try to execute the not-so-complete rebuild.
Enough of these inane ramblings, though.. Let’s get on to your questions, of which there are plenty.
Here is Young Thug riding a horse:
Let’s be fair to Jim Benning, who hasn’t made any monumentally poor decisions on the open market – Matt Bartkowski withstanding. The Radim Vrbata signing was money and it’s hard to argue he isn’t getting his money’s worth on Ryan Miller.
Frankly, I can’t see the Canucks pursuing any of these players. If I were to bank on the Canucks making a short term investment on any of these players it would be Luke Schenn. That wouldn’t even be the worst decision, not that it’s one I think they’ll make. Justin Schultz would be an interesting investment. On a third pairing, I think he could do well enough.
I’m going to take a hard pass on this one. Don’t get me wrong, I think Shea Weber is a fine defenceman and I could live with him on the Canucks first pair. Not relative to what he costs annually and especially not in the context of what the Canucks would have to part with to make this trade happen. Besides, Weber’s been declining for quite some time now…
Again with the animal questions. I’d say my personality is best represented by the majestic ferret. As for you, Nickolas, probably a garden gnome. I know that’s not an animal. This much I am aware of.
I just don’t see that happening. I mean, if performance was the determining factor in who went and who stayed, Dorsett would’ve already been relegated to the AHL. Besides, the Canucks feel as though they need Dorsett to “rub shoulders” with their younger players to help their development. I mean, sure, why not.
