CANUCKS ARMY GDT# 9 – CANUCKS VS. CANADIENS

By Always90four
Oct 27, 2015, 14:00 EDTUpdated:
Tonight history may be in the building; the Montreal Canadiens are 9-0 to start the season and they have a chance to become one of only a few teams to lose to the Vancouver Canucks AND be the first Canucks win on home ice this season. Oh, you thought I was going to talk about the whole 10-0….THIS IS A CANUCKS SITE!! Who cares about the Habs? So even though Dale Weise is back for one night only, this is a night the Canucks want to remember, not the Canadiens.

LINEUPS
At some point, Ryan Miller will be rewarded for his great play at home. He gets the start tonight and rightfully so, he’s been great! The lines get a bit of a shakeroo with Burrows, Sutter and Virtanen on a line while Bo centres Baertschi and the Great Dane. McCann is stuck with the other two, which, well, makes me want to shake my head a lot. It’s getting close to those nine games, what happens is anyone’s guess. Well except for Ben Hutton; he’s crazy good. Also, Brandon Prust will face his old team for the first time. That might be fun for him.

Apparently Carey Price is having another MVP/Vezina type season. Not really surprising at all because he’s all world and Montreal is lucky to have him. Unless someone kidnaps him today, he’ll start and he’ll stand on his head. El Capitan Max Pacioretty is fourth in league scoring and second in goals, PK Subban is second in assists and the top five players in the league for plus/minus are all Habs. I give up. Dale Weise, as I mentioned, is playing. That’s all I’ve got for hope that it won’t be 8-0 Montreal.

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME
- Is tonight the night we get our first home win AND break the Canadiens streak to start the season? Montreal is due and the Canucks aren’t usually the ones doing the upsetting, but I’ve got a feeling. Might just be gas, though.
- The Blue Jays aren’t in the baseballs anymore and to protest the game itself until about April, the Canucks need your support and Sportsnet VAN is your place to protest. You can protest any of Willie’s line changes, Luca’s “Pizzas”, or keeping the kids on the bench longer than necessary.
- Gonna chill a bit on the Ben Hutton love train, he knows he’s good. Tonight we shift our focus to Jared McCann. He needs a boost and hopefully Willie D eats a Snickers; he makes iffy line decisions when he’s hungry. We believe in you, Jared!
- Yannick Weber is STILL in the lineup! His presence will give the back end a boost and his slapper has been referred to as “this generation’s Al Iafrate”. Ok, that’s not true; I just wrote made that up on the spot. But its hard, heavy and it knows how to find the back of the net. REAL QUOTE TIME: To quote the #1 Disney movie of all time “Let it go!” Yannick, let it go.
- Speaking of names that are the same but spelled differently, Jannik Hansen could use a goal. He could use a breakaway goal and on a hot goalie like Price. I was going to jump to a goal Carey Price let in on Hansen but it was just a big save. You see where this is going. Just score Jannik with a J.
- You could watch this game to see the Canadiens MAYBE beat the Canucks to become the third team in NHL history to go 10-0 to start the season, you could watch for a handful of Dale Weise shifts or you could maybe even watch to see Jake Virtanen make an impact that keeps him up on the big club this year, but if you watch for one reason: Watch for the awful personalized goal songs. Blah blah blah cliche country song.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
MY TAKE
I’m sick of seeing losses at home. They all get so close and then somehow reality keeps kicking in. It’s gonna be a packed house, we’d assume, so every goal will be cheered but they’ll only play those personalized songs for our guys. The Canucks play spoiler and somehow, someway Carey Price gets the hook. You’re not reading this because I’m right, you’re reading because you want hope. I am your Obama. I am your Trudeau.
