CANUCKS ARMY GDT# 79 – CANUCKS vs. KINGS

By Always90four

Looks like the Canucks did some winning while I was under the weather, that sure sucks. Apparently even losing the last 4 games doesn’t get a 30th place finish, way to go Vancouver! The Canucks are riding a 2 game winning streak as the Kings arrive and I know what you’re thinking “Could they get the elusive third game?” No, no they can’t.
It’s not that they don’t want to but it feels like each injury is a sign, maybe you just won’t make it. The Rog will no doubt be bangin’ tonight as it always is and getting a ticket won’t be easy. Go local sports franchise!

Sven Baertschi, Linden Vey and Chris Higgins are all day to day and will not play tonight. Markus Granlund, Jake Virtanen and Jared McCann will all play together. Virtanen is now back from his 2 game punishment for finishing a check but seeing Doughty with his head down might be worth missing the last four…..just saying. Andrey Pedan will play FWD. Talk amongst yourselves.
Ryan Miller would be the likely starter, but again, I’m not mathmagician.

Not much going on in LA. Brayden McNabb was cut by his eye on the weekend but he should be back in the lineup today. Dustin Brown is slumping, Anze Kopitar is slumping and Drew Doughty has a few assists in his last 5. The Kings are ready for the playoffs and would probably benefit from a tune up. This may not end well.
Jonathan Quick will be in the gaping 6 x 4 and we all know he loves the Canucks so maybe some goalie interference is due?

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME
- Jake Virtanen is back from his 2 game suspension. He had some time to think. He seems to have learned from his “mistake”.
“It’s something you have to learn from.” Virtanen discusses his playing style after serving a 2-game suspension.https://t.co/byxM0cgzpR— Vancouver Canucks (@VanCanucks) April 3, 2016
- Jannik Hansen has enjoyed quite the California road trip; 1G and 3A since Thursday is quite the run. He managed to net his 20th of the year and I believe he can hit 22 by season’s end. I wrote a little diddy comparing Hansen and Anson Carter’s best season, which obviously was with the Sedins. It’s been a good story this year and the Canucks “best practice player” is worth so much more than what his contract dictates.
- If you are a fan of Canucks scoring goals on the Kings, you live in 2010. After beating the Kings 3-0 at the start of the season, LA has OWNED the Canucks 12-2. Like the odds tonight? Of course you do, you’re a dreamer!
- At some point, the Sedins will retire. Henrik is 33 points away from 1000 but I don’t think he has that kind of game in him. Daniel on the other hand, just might. The Sedins since the 09/10 season have a combined PDO of 100.4, but Daniel himself, is a man possessed at 106.9. Does he throw kryptonite at the Kings when he plays or are they intimidated by his skill? Who knows. I do know the game works a bit better for Daniel when LA is around.
- Went over to the darkside, checked NHL.com and the Canucks are 4th last. If they lose out, I stand corrected; they can still clinch last. So because I haven’t done it in awhile I checked out the Simulator and…….Columbus gets Auston Matthews. I think I just ruined this whole preview. So sorry.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
MY TAKE
Banged up and back home, the Canucks would like to get some #moralvictories but the Kings haven’t faired well in the last few games and sure need some bounce back. Canucks drop it in OT and thus give the Oilers the final spot.
WHAT’D I MISS?
I actually did miss this in my bid to usher out the “man flu”, Nikita Tryamkin is something to behold and as we get to know him more and watch him progress, this guy might be a whole lotta awesome!
