CANUCKS ARMY GDT #79 – CANUCKS @ JETS

By Always90four
Apr 4, 2015, 11:00 EDTUpdated:
We can all dwell on the past and stew over the loss to the Blackhawks, or we can get excited for today’s nooner against the Jets. A couple of tidbits: the Jets have lost their last two at home and the Canucks beat the Jets back in Vancouver in March, 5-2.
Trade deadline pickup Sven Baertschi will make his Canucks debut today on the Horvat and Hansen line. I’m not expecting fireworks because rarely do those happen with a change like this. All the talk the last two days was about Ryan Miller and how he was practicing; just focus on the games they’re playing. If Miller is ready, he won’t come in until the playoffs are assured.
BROADCAST INFO:
Puck Drop: 12:00 PM Pacific (a nooner? OK!)
TV: Sportsnet Pacific and apparently TSN 3, but you’re loyal so you know what channel to watch
Radio: TSN 1040 (Oh the irony)

As I stated above, Sven Baertschi makes his debut in a Canucks uniform, replacing Ronalds Kenins on the Horvat/Hansen line. Just so we’re all clear, until Baertschi scores, he’s the second best Sven to ever put on a Canucks uni behind Sven Butenschon. Eddie Lack gets the shoulder tap between the pipes. No other changes are expected.

Ondrej Pavalec is the starter for Winnipeg today. Dustin Byfuglien is currently serving a 4 game suspension for being an idiot. Tyler Myers sure looks good in the ‘Peg, so good for him.
REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME
- The Jets are fiercely fighting for a wild card spot with the Kings. It’s a catch 22 kind of – Canucks win, Kings potentially gain ground, Canucks lose and well….we don’t want that. Both teams will be in it to win it.
- Former Calgary Flame Sven Baertschi cracks the ‘Nucks lineup today. I know it’s the third time I’ve said it, but it’s a big deal. He has 7 goals and 6 assists in 12 games in Utica; he’s ready.
- The off chance the Sedins get their game going today, this is one they can use to get back on the horse. It’s frustrating seeing them away from the score sheet, but they need to step it up. Vancouver won’t be able to go far if they don’t produce.
- Every game here on in is meaningful. You miss one, and you can only blame yourself. Seriously, Canucks/Jets? You really want to miss that? Its the long weekend, be a couch potato.
- Luca Sbisa is apparently in contract talks so he wouldn’t dare serve up one of his amazing turnovers this late in the season would he? Naaaaaah. He brings the edge today, heck I’m saying he scores!

MY TAKE
Those Canucks are still at 95 points, the Kings thumped the Oilers two nights ago 8-2 to gain some ground and they still have a BEAUUUUUUUUTY matchup on Monday so I’m guessing the Canucks take care of business today to swing things in their favour. The Jets will not lay down for the Canucks – no sir – so giving up the patented 2 goal start may not end the same way again. Canucks need this one. Need it big. 3-1 Canucks is my prediction.
