CANUCKS ARMY GDT #78 – CANUCKS VS. BLACKHAWKS

By Always90four
Apr 2, 2015, 16:52 EDTUpdated:
These games just aren’t as anticipated as they used to be. That’s a shame. Thankfully, the Canucks and Hawks still play some really great games. The intense rivalry has subsided a bit, but the Canucks aren’t going to play down what this game means: another playoff team they may have to play later.
Being that this tilt is in Chi-town this evening, you get the nutty Madhouse on Madison crowd and the way games are starting lately, Chelsea Dagger is on cue. Chicago hasn’t played since Monday when they crowned the Kings 4-1. They’re rested. The Canucks are coming off a HUGE 5-4 win via shootout over the Predators on Tuesday and keeping this thing going is job number one. This will be a playoff game.

Tacos are the new game day meal I’m guessing so Eddie Lack gets the cage. Shouldn’t be any other changes being that Burrows wasn’t suspended.

Patrick Kane took some heavy wristers yesterday but is still watching from the press box this evening. Steve Larmer and Ed Belfour are healthy scratches due to retirement many years ago. Corey Crawford should start.
HEAD TO HEAD

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME
- The way the Canucks were almost jobbed out of a victory on Tuesday, you are OBLIGATED to watch this one. Would you really miss Chicago/Vancouver in Chicago? No, because you’re not a doofus.
- 5 games to go, a chance to get to 97 points and one step closer to the playoffs, that’s 3 reasons on one bullet point, those are freebies.
- It’s not if, but when for Radim Vrbata lately. He has been a man possessed and hey, he passes the puck too! 4 goals and 3 assists in his last 5 games is impressive. He’s a phenomonal UFA pickup. Not having Ryan Kesler has been a lot easier than I think we expected.
- Big fan of phantom calls by the refs? They seem to love targeting your Canucks lately so tune in to see what they pull next.
- A Jannik Hansen breakaway goal might happen tonight. I know, I know…I’m crazy! But hear me out; look at how many breakaways he’s had, a very unhealthy amount actually. At some point, the odds are going to start working in his favour. It’s like gravity.
- Ronalds Kenins has been effective during game play but his point production has dropped dramatically. His line is getting big chances right now and this could be a game he bounces back; I mean Bonino, Vey and Hansen are scoring so its inevitable.

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
MY TAKE
Calling two games in a row is like winning the lotto, but that doesn’t mean you don’t play. Canucks are playing some good hockey right now and they abuse the Hawks this evening with a 5-2 win. Bo Horvat has a big faceoff game and the Sedins jive to ABBA on the bench.
