They couldn’t be shut out for 4 straight games right? RIGHT!? The Canucks are playing out the end of the season like it’s the end of the season – nothing really left but honestly, what’s left to play for? Contracts? Moral victories? Auston Matthews? The Predators host the Canucks tonight and with the infirmary still claiming victims, it will be a patched-together lineup once more.
BUT….what if they win?

I can’t begin to think of what it must be like to see a new guy sitting beside you every game, has to be bad. Daniel Sedin left practice Wednesday and is iffy for tonight. Yup, I’m using the word iffy. Daniel Sedin is hardcore though so if he’s at all ready you know he’ll play. Jannik Hansen may return and that would be just great. He’s been out 11 games and Willie D could sure use a grizzled vet. Derek Dorsett might play but who really cares, same can be said for Yannick Weber. Take the rooks and give em minutes, start auditions for next year.
Ryan Miller is up next on switch a goalie.

Not much has changed for the Preds and they like it that way. Ryan Johansen is playing well, Mike Fisher just played 1000 games which is pretty awesome. Last time, I mentioned something about Colton Sissons and boy was I right. He won’t score tonight but Colin Wilson just might.
Pekka Rinne will be the goalie in the home net, broadcast left.

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME
  • Remember the week of 5-2? This week may go down as a worse week. It’s no secret many of you have tuned out what’s going on but if you’re still reading my gamers, let’s start with the obvious: if they score a goal that will be covered ad nauseum tomorrow on 1040. If it’s Big Russ, that’ll carry over into the weekend. Heck, if Ben Hutton scores a blast, watch out twitter!
  • On the off chance the Canucks make it interesting, we’ll want to see if Sven Baertschi, Bo Horvat and Jake Virtanen can get anything going.Sure, this run sucks right now but it’s sucked before. Remember when they couldn’t win for 9 games and then Burrows got that shorty? Suck it up fan bois, the Canucks have never made it easy, sometimes not even fun.
  • Chris Higgins is back and Jannik Hansen may be too! Let’s focus on Hansen though because he’ll find a way to get a breakaway and for once, I think he scores on it. Call it a Easter surprise I dunno. I would love to see a Hansen breakaway though, something about looking at the roof after an absolute gimme that brings back memories.
  • Is Jared McCann due for something, like anything to happen? Everyone is in that funk but it’d be nice to see him get something going. Anything to finish out the season and give the coaches a reason to remember you.
  • 3 points back of the Leafs for last overall, if you’re watching this game then you’re cheering for a loss and that’s ok. A star is waiting and that last place finish gets you pretty good odds at him. With a 9.5% chance to pick first, I went over to NHL Lottery Simulator and wouldn’t ya know it? FIRST CLICK!!!
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
Pretty much been an emergency recall for some time now. Let’s just call them the Canucks.
MY TAKE
Canucks lose 5-2, how ironic would that be? You know, because I mention… never mind. There isn’t any sign this team can win right now and I’m happy to be wrong but when you are playing a team that most likely will roll you, it’s not promising.
WHAT’D I MISS?
Former CA stat head Josh with the RT here, this is hockey related I’m sure of it. If you are more amused at this thing on the treadmill, the Canucks season has gone terribly wrong. We both know the answer.
