CANUCKS ARMY GDT# 70 – CANUCKS @ OILERS

OK, now everyone knows what’s up. Nikita Tryamkin is now a Canuck, half of Utica is as well and the Canucks crazily enough are only 7 points back of dead last in the NHL. Weird right? As much as one would think a terrible season would look atrocious, this Canucks team hasn’t been the worst all year. The Oilers play host and they look great. A win vs. the Blues on Wednesday and they are just tickidy boo.
If the Canucks were to drop this one and then face a well rested St. Louis squad tomorrow, well, well that would be something.

LINE COMBOS
One would assume there won’t be too much change after last game, aside from Alex Biega coming back in the lineup. I think we’ll see more Tryamkin and Andrey Pedan so hopefully Matt Bartkowski sits. Jannik Hansen will sit out with bruised ribs.
Jacob Markstrom is next man up. Is there any wins left in either Canucks goalie? Tough to say, kinda depends on the team up front and there is not much hope.
Vancouver Canucks lines courtesy of Dailyfaceoff.com:
It will be fun to see uber star Connor McDavid again as well as Leon Draisaitl. Zack Kassian will face his former team and no doubt there will be some memories there. Adam Clendening is also in the lineup so it’s a big ol’ reunion.
Cam Talbot should start but honestly, I’m wrong so much who even cares who’s in net for them?

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME
  • Nikita Tryamkin will attempt to do his first shift over again, culminating with it lasting more than 12 seconds. He’ll learn the sounds but he has to be more confident; no one, not even Keith Ballard in his worst time here, had a shift that short.
  • Jake Virtanen needs to hit everything tonight. He has a bunch of hits but he needs to go postal on the Oilers tonight. These games are going to set up roster spots for next season; you want to leave a legacy.
  • Daniel Sedin has 4 goals and 2 assists in his last 10. He also hasn’t had Henrik for a few games so being that this is the Oilers, they’re due for some Sedinery.
  • Taylor Hall has 1 goal and 8 assists in his last 13 games against the Canucks. He just can’t score but he’s setting it up. When you are slightly better looking you tend to score more goals but when it looks like a farm tractor hit you, all you’re good for is apples. (see the comparison there? MINT)
  • Ultimately, this is a game only diehard fans of either team will want to tune in to. One of these teams will most likely get the first overall pick, ok maybe Toronto, March Madness has started, its spring time, you’re probably still hungover from yesterday. But its about the kids development that matters the most. Tune in for the future of your favourite team and however John Garrett has utilized the Safeway score and win product in his eating travels.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
Did Jimbo have a seat to this conversation?
MY TAKE
The Canucks are playing some iffy hockey lately and that bodes well for their shot at the Zurich Zapper, Auston Matthews. Edmonton is coming off a pretty big win against the Blues so they’ll want to follow that up against a banged up Canucks squad. Oilers take it in regulation.
