Tonight is the final matchup of the season between the Canucks and Coyotes. The Canucks have won 2 of 3 and wouldn’t it be just great to take the season series? The answer is yes. This is one of those games where everyone else wants this to go to OT; Vancouver and Arizona are deadlocked at 62 points so this is a big matchup in the Auston Matthews Bowl.
We might get a game out of this.

Pretty much the same lineup tonight as was last game. No Henrik, No Edler, No Sutter, No Tanev, No chance? Well, some chance. Please put Bo Horvat on the top line… please… or even Jared McCann?

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME
  • This is one of the pre-tournament qualifiers for the Auston Matthews Championship Bowl. Both Vancouver and Arizona are tied at 62 points; 9 back of the Toronto Maple Leafs and only 3 back of the 2nd overall pick… potentially. One team may try to suck intentionally so be warned but I’m excited because this one could be close and if the Canucks lose, well, well that’s ok by me.
  • Jake Virtanen is getting better at the NHL hockey and he seems to be leaving an impact. Statistically, he has impressed with a 54.6 CF% in all situations, adjusted. He’s playing just over 11.5 min/gm, maybe up his time a smidgen more and he may score a few more too?
  • Radim Vrbata looks to be playing out the season but he did have a few shots last game and looked enthused to be there; his old teammates won’t bother to check him as he’s emotionless. His cap hit will eventually not sting anymore, sadly I’ll miss him and his creepy stare.
  • Dan Hamhuis is on a crazy hot streak right now; 2 goals in his last 2 games is other worldy for Hammer and would it be nuts to suggest a 3 GAME STREAK??? Yes it would but I’m doing it.
  • The Canucks Town Hall meeting last night didn’t go so well, thankfully there is a game to make you forget what the team is doing off the ice. Its impossible to crash this team into the ground while they’re playing so at least there’s that.

MY TAKE
It sure is tough to get excited for the Arizona Coyotes but here we are! I get the feeling Auston Matthews would rather play for Arizona if he could choose so the Yotes might let up at some point and give this one to the home team. I was wrong last game but I shan’t be wrong again. Canucks in OT.
