The trade deadline has come and gone and wouldn’t you know it, the Canucks came out winners? It’s a shame that Jannik Hansen won’t be playing this evening but it’s all the more reason the hype will go through the roof by the weekend.
Vancouver’s shiny new toy, Nikolay Goldobin, can’t join the team just yet, but he will soon, so get excited! There’s a chance Jake Virtanen is jealous but if he had done what he was asked to do (still not sure what that is) he’d be in that spot.
Let’s play the game.

LINE COMBOS
Markus Granlund is the default top line addition now with the Sedins and take a look at Reid Boucher, he’s taken over for Alex Burrows on the 2nd unit. We didn’t get to formally introduce him last time so now I can, welcome to the Canucks Borna Rendulic!
Ryan Miller will get the start.

No Jannik Hansen, unfortunately. The nice thing is, they beat the Canucks without him on Saturday. This lineup has everything and so many amazing beards, it’s a real treat.
Martin Jones got the win last time so why not go for two? He should start.

GAMES NOTES, STATS, AND OTHER INTERESTING INFO
- According to Ryan Biech, Goldobin is on a five-game point streak in the AHL, it would be a shame to see that continue against the team that gave up on him. Did I say shame, I meant awesome!
- A far more interesting season has put the Canucks pretty close to where they were last year. Eight points up on the Coyotes for 28th place in the league gives the Canucks a solid shot at the top pick this year at the Draft. As this California road trip starts, Ryan Miller and Jacob Markstrom will have to be lights out to keep them in every game. Somehow, the losses won’t hurt as much, though.
- It wasn’t a pretty month for the Canucks on the score sheet but Bo Horvat and Markus Granlund were the most well-rounded players. Horvat with 4G and 4A just topped Granlund’s 4G and 3A. Daniel Sedin led all Canucks with 2G and 7A. The Sedins just won’t go away.
- Hope you like skating in circles because that’s all you may see tonight for the Canucks. Vancouver is tied for dead last in the league in Shots/GP. 27.7 shots is the Canucks reality. It sounds like a lot but the top 20 teams in the league are averaging at least two more per game. Yikes!
- Joseph Cramarossa was claimed by the Canucks on Wednesday and there wasn’t a ton of hype. He has amassed 4G and 6A good for T-17 on the Canucks. He will fit in just fine.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
I’m not sure how to take this. They got Jannik Hansen, that is a great deal right there, is it not?
MY TAKE
It will be more of the same tonight but I’m happy the Canucks have officially embraced the rebuild. It took awhile but it is now clear they want to overhaul what they have. Trading Loui Eriksson in the offseason might be a good idea as well.
WELCOME TO THE REBUILD
It’s here, open 9-5 every day. Today’s special is sushi.
