It feels like forever since the Canucks last played but here we are again and a two-game win streak is on the line. Newly acquired Markus Granlund will be in the lineup and it’s the first time the Canucks will see Dion Phaneuf in a Senators jersey. I bet they didn’t sleep last night just thinking about… DION PHANEUF, what an honour!

Radim Vrbata is out with a lower-body injury after pivot-falling in the corner against Colorado, Matt Bartkowski hopefully is out with a bruised elbow but should be ok to play for Washington or Pittsburgh or Los Angeles or Boston again by Monday. Derek Dorsett has also been a bit banged up so I mean, he could be out. Imagine the possibilities!!!
Ryan Miller was absolutely 2007 against the Avs on Sunday and he’s had enough time to revel in his own glory. He’ll start.
Vancouver Canucks lines courtesy of Dailyfaceoff.com:
Ottawa is fresh off a win against the Oilers and there really is only a few notables here: Dion Phaneuf will debut red for the first time in Vancouver since his Flames days. Clarke MacArthur will be back for the first time since October after a concussion robbed him of his memory and he had to re-learn hockey. I’m impressed. Hockey really is an amazing sport.
Craig Anderson just might start so stay tuned.

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME
  • With the trade deadline looming there could be some drastic changes coming. I doubt we see those changes before Sunday’s game but it’s possible we see Steven Stamkos Madison Bowey in a Canucks jersey and maybe a Radim Vrbata or Alex Burrows went. Cherish these moments like they’re your own children. One day, they’ll be gone and….you know what, they didn’t win us a Cup so it’s fine.
  • A marathon night for Ryan Miller with maybe one goal allowed could bump him into the top 10 in SA%. We rag on him but goaltending has definitely been the saving grace for the Canucks this year. Without Miller and Markstrom, Auston Matthews is a slam dunk. #moralvictory
  • Continuing with the what ifs, if Daniel Sedin notches 3 points against the Nation’s finest, he’s tied for 10th overall in points. If he gets a hat trick, same goes for goals. Man, this season is just a conundrum of crazy.
  • Throwing sample size to the wind, Markus Granlund is a monster this season 5v5. With a Personal Shooting % of 10, accounting for his explosive 3 goals, this guy is JUST what the doctor ordered going into this game. Anything less than a 2 goal performance and 6 shots would be a bust.
  • The Canucks don’t play again until Sunday. You miss this one, that’s a week of no Canucks. Go ahead, try and do it…you can’t. So maybe take my advice for once and watch the game!
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
At some point, this will all go back to normal. For now…..(see above)
MY TAKE
I’ve seen some good Canucks games at the Rog where the Canucks own the Sens, I have a feeling this will be one of those games. Bo Horvat is due for a Bo Horvat type game and I’m dead serious, Granlund has a good game that we talk about. Nucks in regulation.

Here’s today’s featured bet: To Score a Point – Daniel Sedin

Damn, Daniel…. back at it again with the five-game point streak! I’m (and by I, I mean Jeff, who has taken over the end of this GDT) pretty sure that the twins are immortal; this stretch of 8 points in 5 games is just further proof of that. But the Senators are red-hot right now, and outside of his seven-game run in November, Daniel hasn’t really gone streaking that often this year. Sports Interaction are currently giving him 1.5 to 1 odds of keeping the streak going, and 2.4 to 1 odds of it ending tonight. I’d be inclined to bet on the latter, with all things considered. Higher odds and the more likely outcome aren’t things you see every day, after all.
Have fun, and remember to gamble responsibly!
