CANUCKS ARMY GDT# 6 – CANUCKS VS. OILERS

By Always90four
Oct 18, 2015, 15:00 EDTUpdated:
This isn’t going to be the tire fire that is the Battle of Alberta; its the Canucks against the Oilers and one of these teams will still be awful after this evening and it isn’t Vancouver. The Oilers had a convincing win over the Flames last night and even poster boy Connor McDavid had a 3 point night. But today we still don’t care and the Canucks are about to send the Oilers packing.

LINEUPS
Looks like a portion of Canucks Nation will get their wish when chronic breakaway misser (actual label?) Jannik Hansen gets the tap to play with the Sedins. Horvat will centre Baertschi and Virtanen which may end up being an absolute gong show for the Oilers and on the fourth line we get Weekend at Bernies 2. Not as good as the first. You can insert any other ridicule here for punishing Adam Cracknell with the Whack – a – mole boys. Jared McCann most likely will not play due to injury
Ryan Miller should start. Probably could save a few bucks just having one goalie right now, heck Bachman could start for the Oilers again!

Blah, blah, blah Connor McDavid. Also, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins is looking alright again and that sucks because he was granted “Canuck Killer” status awhile back. Justin Schultz and Griffin Reinhart will no doubt be buying a few buckets this evening for “local” ugh, family and friends. To be fair, Griffin is actually local.
Cam Talbot will start.

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME
Sidney Crosby Alex Ovechkin Roberto Luongo Steven Stamkos Patrick Kane Jamie Benn Phil KesselConnor McDavid is here folks! first regular season game against the Canucks in Vancouver, a real treat. If you are excited to see the Oilers anyways. If you are excited to see the Oilers trash dumpster then you were really excited when Mark Messier beca…you know what I’m sorry; should have never even said that man’s name.- Ben “freaking” Hutton is a Vancouver Canuck you guys. Stating the obvious but if you are just noticing his presence/contributions you’re late! He is so smart in the way he thinks what the next move up the ice will be, he’s making opponent forwards look dumb. Case in point his little step back move against the Blue on Friday. If Chris Tanev and Alex Edler combined super powers you’d get Ben Hutton. Good college kid!
- Bo Horvat is rewarded this evening with Sven Baertschi and Jake Virtanen. If that line doesn’t absolutely crush the Oilers I’d be surprised. Then again, Real Good Willie tends to not play the obvious lines when it matters. Let’s all hope we’re wrong here. Very excited for this combo.
- If for some reason there is a Canucks goal tonight that’s close, will we hear a mashup of the two potential players goal songs? Serious question. This whole personal goal song is very baseball-esque and I love it. Oh and if you didn’t see it already check out Sillig Ekim’s article about who he thought each player should go with. Here is MY take, slightly more ridiculous…for the most part.
- Still quite early in the season but now that I think of it, the Canucks have NOT taken a too many men penalty this year and safe to say it’s because of one individual (you were supposed to click the link by now)
- ICYMI Todd McLellan loves Phil Collins, but will he love Jake Virtanen levelling McDavid again just the same?
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
Not sure if this is the originator of this but aside from last night’s game, its still fitting until further notice.
MY HOT TAKE
Rarely am I wrong on my hot takes and with the Oilers at the Rog tonight I’m feeling especially hot. Edmonton is coming off a big win in Calgary, they probably didn’t get a lot of sleep and Taylor Hall missed the bus to the game (also a guess). In true Canucks fashion, the Oilers score first but it’s the Canucks who finish on top. Adam Cracknell will somehow get a goal and the Canucks skate away with the W.
