CANUCKS ARMY GDT# 47 – CANUCKS @ RANGERS

By Always90four
Jan 19, 2016, 15:00 ESTUpdated:

The Canucks make their way to the Big Apple, some in an off white Lexus, drivin’ so slow but BK from Texas. Last we saw of the Broadway Blueshirts, they lost in Van City 2-1 and Daniel Sedin scored the G-DUB-G. A very different lineup will be starting tonight, Willie Desjardins sitting rink side, Daly and Betts give him high fives, Henrik just got laid out (Sunday), gotta watch for the evil referees, you can tell by their attitudes that they most definitely hate…

Game 7 never forget.

LINE COMBOS
Where do I begin? Let’s start with the top line – Jared McCann takes over for Henrik after Hank was disgustingly dummied face first into the boards by Grabovski and is out until after the ASG. The Keepin’ it 100 line (Horvat/Bae, 53+47=100) is intact and should put out the heat, Jake Virtanen is back and Brandon Prust is sitting this one out. Brandon Sutter who has been out since forever may even play tonight.
Ryan Miller has been pegged to start. Not sure that’s such a great idea after he faced over 100 shots in Brooklyn on Sunday. He played out of his mind so he’s ready to go.

The Rangers are two points back of third in the East and are sporting a – no pun intended – blue collar lineup. Not a glitzy, glamour roster but they are getting production up and down the bench. Former Canuck, Tanner Glass, is hoping to miss yet another important shot tonight and we’ll all laugh and it’ll be great. Kevin Klein may get the “thumbs up” to play after hurting his iPhone finger against the Flyers.
King Henrik Lundqvist is in the pipes so the Canucks have their work cut out for them.

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME
- McCann is centering Daniel and Hansen? WOW! Can’t wait to see that work, like actually; that would be really good for his development. It isn’t always about the bad stuff you guys. We do want to see the progression. Sadly, Henrik is out and the cycle is without its chain.
- As famous Canadian rapper Drake coined “back to back”, the Canucks are looking to make the Rangers back to back to back wins; three in a row some would say and that qualifies as a streak. This team has befuddled me over and over but a 3 game win streak would be a new one this year. I actually like their chances… is that wrong?
- Daniel is still looking for the elusive goal 347 to pass former Ranger, Markus Naslund, for the all-time Canucks goal scoring lead. Daniel did it back in December in Vancouver so maybe he book ends this one in style? Henrik’s not there to share it so in typical Canucks fashion it will happen so the NHL can have its day.
- After Ryan Miller stopped 47 of 48 shots against the Islanders, there should be no question who the top dog is again. Great to see two guys battle it out as is so common in the Canucks net, this one is starting to get interesting. He’ll be up against King Henrik in NYC so all eyes are on the goalies in this one. Can’t wait!
- Back to McCann – He’s at a very nice 1.3 P60 in his 41 games at 5v5 and with the promotion of a lifetime getting to play with Daniel, that number has a chance to increase. This might be that stretch where we really see what this team can do. Bo has already shown he is gonna be fine.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
Basically, there are no current bus routes that Radim Vrbata or Brandon Prust walk in front of every day that would cause this to be fast tracked. I’m saying Vrb/Prusty would have to be hit by a bus. You got it, the joke is now ruined.
I failed.
MY TAKE
For whatever reason I feel good about this game, probably not as good as Ben Hutton is feeling these days… but good. Henrik Lundqvist can be hot and cold against the Canucks so, hopefully, we get the off night from him. Bo Horvat is due after not scoring last game, so I expect a Ranger roasting at the hands of Bo. Nucks win it in regulation.
WHAT’D I MISS?
Ryan’s MEGA STAT – Jannik Hansen has played 84:18 against the Rangers 5v5 and has been fortunate to have a CF% of 61.1. He’s done much of this without the Sedins so he could be primed for a big game as well.
