CANUCKS ARMY GDT# 46 – CANUCKS @ ISLANDERS

By Always90four
Jan 17, 2016, 11:50 ESTUpdated:

SUNDAY, SUNDAY, SUNDAY!!!!! Welcome to the Barclays Center, home of Jay-Z, the Nets, a Skoda car and oh right, the New York Islanders. The Canucks are 4-2-1 since January began and already there have been some pretty fun storylines. Bo Horvat is making a mockery of defenders, Jake Virtanen is happy and today… today Luca Sbisa and Jannik Hansen return. ITS A CELEBRATION SNITCHES!!!!

LINE COMBOS
I know you read the opener so you are hopefully as excited as I am: Luca Sbisa and Jannik Hansen are back so Taylor Fedun has been sent back. Brandon Prust may be sitting out or who really even knows, this one’s so early they could change something by the time you read to the end of the gamer. Virtanen is getting some nice audition time with Bo and Sven but also with Jared McCann. Things are happening people.
Ryan Miller should get the start because as many have stated before “Its HIS net”. Ugh…

I was expecting to see John Tavares among the league leaders… of anything but its Kyle Okposo that has that honor and 44th in the league in points is amazing, good for you guys! However, the Islanders have been doing fairly well this year and are right in the mix JUST LIKE THE CANUCKS ARE, well except that the Canucks shouldn’t be.
Jaroslav Halak should get the start.

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME
- We know Luca Sbisa is back and again, for whatever reason that relieves many of us – naysayers as well. Jannik Hansen should be back too, so there might be some normalcy. This has been a messed up season.
- Daniel Sedin is ONE goal away from breaking the Canucks all-time goal record and wouldn’t it be great if Vancouver was the team that put up 7 goals instead of New York? With Hansen in the game, those chances seem amplified.
- Broken record alert!!! Bo Horvat is good at puck shooting. I am predicting the streak continues, I tell my family that once again I called it and the rest of the day will go amazing. It ends at some point but honestly, Bo has been off the charts lately and despite this bleh season, he makes it worth it.
- The Powerball thing this week was pretty overwhelming, if you played, but has anyone thought about how awesome it would be to win that Skoda car? You have to believe Jake Virtanen needs his first ever vehicle but I don’t know if they just give it away when you score. I’ll look into it.
- The Canucks have played many games lately and fatigue could start to set in but considering they had a pretty healthy home stretch and the travel on the east coast is next to none, this one might actually be under rated. Lots of young stars to watch and in typical Canucks fashion, Jaro Halak will probably end up getting one of the 3 stars.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
What a stupid masc… we have a whale that blows smoke. We both lose today.
MY TAKE
The Islanders strike me as the team that can ruin anything the Canucks have built up lately, regardless of their losses and the way they can uninspire you from time to time. I’m taking the Canucks in this one and I couldn’t tell you why but Bo Horvat and Daniel Sedin are going to be my reasons. Yes…them. Toooootally confident right now. CONFIDENT! Canucks win in regulation.
