CANUCKS ARMY GDT# 40 – CANUCKS VS. COYOTES

By Always90four
Jan 4, 2016, 16:00 ESTUpdated:
It seems like the Canucks have played the Yotes a few times this year but in actuality its only been once. The Canucks took game one in Glendale and the pups (Jared McCann, Brendan Gaunce) saw their name first on the score sheet. The Canucks trail Arizona by just the one point in the Pacific Division, so its the ol’ game of leapfrog if the Canucks can pull it off; it would also put them back in the playoffs.
This current homestand is 2-1 so you have to believe Willie is happy with the record. A win tonight is yet 2 more points further away from Auston Matthews so there’s that.

Brandon Prust is the newest name on the injury list thanks to All Century Canuck Ryan Kesler. Jared McCann will most likely slot in if Prust is a no go. Linden Vey has ironically been pretty decent since his call up, so for now, he’s fine where he is. Maybe WD will see there is a better option on defense that isn’t Bartkowski and welcomed addition Andrey Pedan can slot back in. But what do I know?
Jacob Markstrom is so hot right now and Ryan Miller is still hurt; advantage? Canucks fans.

Bring it to Boyd Gordon and Martin Hanzal (he too is so hot right now) could both play tonight after injuries have kept them both out. Positive note – Dylan Strome is not a Coyote yet thankfully as its only a matter of time before his hot shots are going in nets all over the NHL; Max Domi is however, so watch out for his stellar play.
Louis Dominique will be in net. I was going to Google him but he doesn’t seem like a guy that will be around very long.

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME
- Pacific division NHL All Star Captain, John Scott, will be in the lineup tonight…maybe, actually no, and we should all be so lucky to see this
plug, soon to be cap casualty, waiver mix up, castoffsuperstar rub shoulders with the less than worthy Canucks team… is there a sarcasm font? - Jacob Markstrom is doing good goalie things right now and he has a .921 SA%, good for 18th in the league. Like the scenario we saw last year with Eddie Lack getting the keys to the car, Markstrom has been able to settle down and make this net his own. No pressure to relinquish the crease to Miller; Markstrom could very well play his way into THE starter’s role.
- How good is Linden Vey since being called up? With a WHOPPING 5 games to source from he has a PDO of 92.2 and 5v5 CF% of 50.0 – That’s Benning speak for 4 yrs / $20M, so the longer he stays here the longer he’ll stay LONG TERM!!
- Chris Tanev is a big reason the Canucks are even as good as they are; his goal against the Ducks was yet one more reason his timely presence is so valuable. The Canucks without Tanev is unthinkable. Dan Hamhuis is missed don’t get me wrong but we were able to get over losing Ohlund, Salo, Jovo and even Willie Mitchell; Chris Tanev is not a guy we want on that list. Time to surround him with more help and Andrey Pedan would be a nice start.
- Another game with the Sedins and Hansen, another game we should expect something Sedin/Hansen like. The Canucks sure have been lucky to find the next man up that has stuck for the Twins. As easy as they make it look, the guy on that other wing better be able to keep up and understand them.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
Greatest of all tim……OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOh!!!
Clever, PITB, clever.
MY TAKE
The Canucks aren’t the best team in the NHL, yeah we know. Sure they don’t have 3 Sedin twins, which is kind of obvious; but they are starting to show #MUST and I dig that. This K’yotays team doesn’t even scare me and the Canucks are missing more people on their roster than they Arizonas get for a home game. I say……Nucks in REGULATION!!!!
WHAT’D I MISS?
