CANUCKS ARMY GDT# 36 – CANUCKS @ LIGHTNING

It’s finally OVER!!! The last game of the road trip is here and Christmas is so close, the Canucks could use a gift. Ryan Miller wanted to get his holidays started early so he got cramps in the shootout on Sunday. Considering the Canucks and Lightning seem to share players, this may be a good scouting game. And if the hot taeks in Toronto weren’t hot enough, what if STAMKOS signed in Vancouver?
Talk amongst ya’selves. (I expect the comment section to tear me a new one)

LINE COMBOS

Hank is back, back again, Hank is back, tell a friend! Henrik Sedin is back in the lineup after missing two games with a mysterious injury (Scoobs, find anything?) and goalie Ryan Miller got some of them there cramps so ya boy Jacob Markstrom will be in net. McCann will probably get the Burr/Higgy treatment and looky here, Bo Horvat and Sven Baertschi are making things happen? Who knew?
Some of you already forgot so I’ll say it again. Jacob Markstrom is starting.

The Ning are sure banged up right now, Now that I think about it, Dalton Prout DID just play a week ago against them. Jonathan Drouin may suit up tonight after being out for a bit but there’s too many guys to name that won’t play. I hope Vladdy Nameskinkoff scores, great all name team entry and I’m sure he hasn’t scored in forever (3 games ago, ok I’m wrong.)
Ben Bishop will rook his way into the nets this evening.

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME

  • With Henrik Sedin returning, a minor return to normalcy in the lineup means we could see things settle down slightly up front and that might give guys like McCann and Horvat a break to do their thing.
  • Its the last game of the roady and the last game before Christmas. We all want a Canucks win, some of us want a loss; depending on what you’d like to see the Canucks do by the end of season. There are some positives out of these losses though; we’re really seeing the younger guys stepping up in the last few. Promising at the very least.
  • Sven Baertschi is relevant again? That came out of nowhere. The Christmas roster freeze sure helped his case as his play has elevated the last couple of games and for all we know, they punt him after the freeze and Horvat’s BFF Shinkaruk gets called up for good. I would like Sven to succeed though; chemistry has to start somewhere. I still want to see these Canucks pull it off.
  • Funny to think Jannik Hansen was a big target (according to you) to be traded last season, season before, season before and so on; the fans may be changing their minds now because even without Henrik at the top pivot, Hansen is still getting it done. With 2G and 2A in his last 5GP, Jannik at the Disco! is well on his way to breaking his big year in 2011/12. I guess the Sedins can really turn anyone into good player of hockey.
  • You got all your Christmas shopping done, just topped up the rum and eggnog and the kids are out in the snow doing snow things (check local weather report for snow in your area). So enjoy this game because there’s still hope we can learn a few things this season and probably a few presents under the Canucks tree they plan on opening up in the not so distant future. (players, I mean)

WHAT THEY’RE SAYING

A good question indeed. My guess is the pyramids were built with PL 400 and play doh!

MY TAKE

Tampa has that Stamkos character and from what I’ve been reading, he’s pretty good. Oddly enough, if the Canucks keep this one to regulations they might win! OT and the shootout have been their kryptonite so ya, I’m saying win it in regulations. Tampa Bay is in a world of hurt brother and watcha gonna do when those 30 inch pythons get a hold of y….do they still bring Hulk Hogan to games? Tampa wins but I won’t like it.

WHAT’D I MISS?

Mind blown!
