CANUCKS ARMY GDT 35 – CANUCKS VS. CANADIENS

It was just a bone bruise; it’s going to be OK now.
Tonight, the Canucks welcome the Canadiens to Vancouver. They’ll be looking to get a step higher in the standings with a W. The stands will be filled with a boisterous crew of Habs fans that will do their best to break the sound barrier in the so-called “library” atmosphere that Rogers Arena occupies on many nights.
With the news of Brock Boeser not suffering a bone fracture, the season can still be saved. 48 hours ago, almost all hope was lost.

LINE COMBINATIONS
Reid Boucher has been called up from Utica, and it would be a safe bet he’ll slot in this evening. Brandon Sutter is still on the mend as is Erik Gudbranson. At some point, this team will be healthy, but it won’t be today.
Jacob Markstrom deserves to start again. It couldn’t possibly be worse than last game.
Vancouver Canucks lines courtesy of Dailyfaceoff.com:
Shea Weber is indefinitely shut down as his foot injury has not healed the way the team thought. Jonathan Drouin and Max Pacioretty will be on the team’s top line with Paul Byron riding shotgun, how fun would that be?
Carey Price is the man between the pipes.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR
- Vancouver is four points out of a playoff spot. If Jim Benning is still of the belief that this team can make it, there might be some moves that need to be made. The injuries shouldn’t force his hand but this has been some kind of dumb luck, and there are NO answers in the lineup aside from the Sedins, so if something pops up, the Canucks could use him.
- Blocked shots, it’s the hot-button item right now. The jokes can be made about who they’d rather have blocked that shot against Calgary but imagine if Alex Edler wasn’t 4th in the league with BkS/GP? Ya, this team would really suck. The things no one is paying attention to is the things that keep the puck out of the net, albeit for a short time. It would be something to see what his shins looked like early in his career to what they look like now. Block away, Edler. You’re a horse.
- Would you believe Alex Biega is a hitting machine? His nickname “bulldog” has been thrown around a lot for his aggressive efforts, but Biega is 12th in the league in Hits/GP with 3.12. Apparently, the Canucks are hitting?
- The Canucks power play will slow down as long as Boeser is out of the lineup, and he better hurry back because the guys that have scored that aren’t injured right now will make you cry. Thomas Vanek, Markus Granlund, Sam Gagner, Daniel Sedin, Alex Burmistrov (yep) and Derrick Pouliot are the only other players with a power-play marker. Show me a Jake Virtanen/Sam Gagner/Reid Boucher line. Anything.
- Poor reffing to continue, it will.
THE TWITTER TAKE
In the six games that Horvat has been out, the Canucks have been outscored 19-4 at 5-on-5. Have a great evening!
Saw this last night, laughed, then cried.
MY 94 CENTS
This game could go a few ways. Montreal isn’t a great team but they seem to be giving the Canucks fits lately. Boeser will be out, but with the news, he’ll be ok, the Canucks should take an opportunity to make up some points while he’s out. It’s the least they can do for the best player on their team.
OVER / UNDER
Jake Virtanen goals (+/- 1) Take the over. Big Jake is about to erupt.
Brendan Gaunce goal (+/- 0) Over, go over. It has to happen sometime.
