By Always90four
Dec 20, 2015, 12:17 ESTUpdated:
The Canucks are coming off a 4-3 shootout win against the Red Wings on Friday night and wouldn’t ya know it FREAKING Linden Vey got the winner! Today is a new day and an early start. Roberto Luongo is so gracious to invite his friends over for a game of stick and puck, sadly that’s what the Canucks have resembled for the last month or so. There’ll be some Jagr today and our bud Willie Mitchell as well. Hockey in Florida? YES PLEASE, SIGN ME UP!!!

The new norm is playing without “official” captain, Henrik Sedin. His lower body injury will keep him out; for how long is anyone’s guess. Linden Vey obviously has taken a roster spot in his absence. Jared McCann looked like he fit up front against Detroit and he’ll get another chance today. The loss of Hank will create issues for guys like McCann and Horvat who now are being asked to take on more minutes. Trial by fire lately in Vancouver, what else is new?
Jacob Markstrom, who was the other goalie in a certain trade, will cover Vancouver’s net.

Jaromir Jagr is sitting at 731 goals, his next will put him 4th in goals all time ahead of Marcel Dionne. Jussi Jokinen leads the Panthers in points and he’s on the 3rd line. Makes sense? This will be a nice first-hand view of what the Canucks may be headed towards if they continue their current ways.
Roberto Luongo will start because he is awesome and deserves to.

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME
- Goes without saying; Roberto Luongo is a pleasure to watch and when we get to see him play, good times. He’ll make some saves, say some things and maybe he’ll have a clever tweet before the game?
- Is Jared McCann the new Henrik Sedin? Well no, no he’s not but he took his spot and Daniel has to be doing cycles in his head to make sure McCann fits. Looks like he does so far. For all we know, Henrik wanted a mini vacay and what better time to be “injured” than right before Christmas?
- Glove side top shelf – Luongo or Miller? I can never tell. One of these fine goaltenders will give this up and the other…well he’s Luongo. Please, Ryan Miller, stop being instinctive as you described it and just do goalie-ing the normal way. I’m worried you might have gone full Mike Smith; don’t ever go full Mike Smith.
- Ben Hutton has never played against Roberto and vice versa (fancy way of saying opposites) Wouldn’t it be nice to see a young kid like Ben embarrass our good friend Luongo? But just for a bit. He might only score one but it’s important. So hooray for Mr. Huttonmania!!
- I did mention the Canucks won last game right? A 2 game win streak is up for grabs and you wouldn’t want to be one of those bandwagon fans that started cheering at the peak of the teams popularity this year would you? Didn’t think so. Tune in and enjoy!
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
I’m guessing Benning wasn’t available for quote?
MY TAKE
If Roberto Luongo is having a good season, leave it to the Canucks to put up a strong game against him. It’s some alternate universe stuff you probably wouldn’t understand. If you divide Corsi/Fenwick and add PDO-PP% on the road, it works itself out that the Canucks win this game. Still working on a score, but don’t worry; I should have that around 3:30 or so.
WHAT’D I MISS?
But ya, Linden Vey makes sense.
