CANUCKS ARMY GDT# 26 – CANUCKS @ KINGS

By Always90four
Dec 1, 2015, 14:54 ESTUpdated:
The stay at the Hilton Checkers in downtown LA won’t be as cozy when you lose the way the Canucks did last night. The Canucks need to find out if they’ll be able to compete in the last 3/4 of the season without looking like they’ve mailed it in nightly. Thankfully, the Kings do bring some good out of the Canucks so, despite the tire fire we witnessed less than 24 hrs ago, there is a chance for minor redemption. Let’s start there: those moral victories again.

Chris Tanev was banged up last night but managed to get through the game after sitting most of the 1st period against Anaheim. Jake Virtanen is out this evening so you guessed it, Sven Baertschi wins his interim spot back. The Sedins had a rare night off but so did everyone else. Ryan Miller was brutal and even though it wasn’t entirely his fault, he was yanked. Pedan looks like he might factor in tonight, about time some muscle joined the team. (updated 12:30pm)
Jacob Markstrom will finally start. If he can play defense and forward we may stand a chance.

Scoring on Line 2….The Kings 2nd line is really pumping out the genos this season and the top line of Kopitar, Gabby and Pearson are clipping along just below line 2. LA is worried about their tertiary scoring so at least we know its not just a Canucks thing. The thing is, they’re worried because they are so much better than the rest of the awful division that is the Pacific that they need to make sure ALL their lines work well. Nice problem.
Jonathan Quick will be in the pipes. Sometimes, he doesn’t play well against the Canucks.

REASONS TO….ERR….TOLERATE THIS GAME
- Let’s start here: the last time the Canucks played the Kings they beat them 3-0 and life was still worth living for. Much has changed but what hasn’t changed is that technically, this team is still capable of winning….the Canucks I mean.
- Jacob Markstrom gets the start and if it’s possible to “win” a job, temporarily anyways, this might be a good night to try. Ryan Miller looked AHL-like yesterday, even Leaf like (ugh) and not that there is a controversy yet but if anything is possible in Vancouver, it would be that.
- Daniel Sedin had his 7 game point streak snapped by the Ducks and hell hath no fury like a scorned Sedin. Or something like that. Jannik Hansen was also shut out as was Henrik and pretty much ev…you know what, everyone sucked yesterday. But Daniel deserved better, time to start a new streak.
- Milan Lucic is having a decent season before he makes his way to Vancouver to fulfill his destiny as a Canuck. His 14 points are good for 3rd on the team. He isn’t the best player we should want but 14 points on THIS Canucks team would go a long way. I’m really not sure how this is a reason, but I suppose a scouting session on a future Canuck wouldn’t hurt.
- If you have hate left in your heart from yesterday, spill it out against the Kings. We shared so many horrible, awful memories together that watching Drew Doughty beg for his life after an Edler hit would make us all laugh like a super villain. If there are any hits at all then this is my wish. Not a whole lot else but a melee could break out. I’m hoping for it anyways.
WHAT WE’RE SAYING
(AND BY WE I MEAN HONESTLY WHOEVER RIGHT NOW)
MY TAKE
It sure has been a thinker of a season hey? I don’t think I knew how something like this would go, probably could have asked an Oilers or Flames fan for the feeling. Mr. Quick does have his off games against the Canucks so it’s entirely possible this could be one of those. It can’t get any worse than not showing up against the Ducks, can it? Undecided on the outcome for today. Canucks and Kings hey? Well, see ya later!
