CANUCKS ARMY GDT# 15 – CANUCKS @ DEVILS

By Always90four

How the Canucks lost to Buffalo yesterday still boggles me; clutch time and no one was took charge as the game winner went in. Thankfully, that game is done and a new one starts today. Vancouver makes stop # 2 on their roadie and they face former appointed #1 Cory Schneider. He’s a cool dude. The rest of the Pacific division is starting to catch up so it would be wise to come away with 2 points.

LINEUPS
People who know things say backup Richard Bachman could get the start today in the swamp. Ryan Miller hasn’t been the problem but you gotta start your bench guys every now and then, they could go rogue and do some damage. The lines are somewhat irrelevant if they aren’t utilized when it matters. The young studs need to see some more time at the end of games. There’s more energy in those legs and when you’re not tired, you don’t make dumb mistakes.
Did I mention Bachman probably will start?

The Devils are “real good” this year. Their PP is rolling at 21%, they have stars that fight and a goalie we call a friend. Schneider may wear the baseball cap today and in turn Keith Kincaid may get the start. Schneids has played the last 10 so he’s a little tired. No changes to the Devils lines from their Friday game against Chicago. They’ll be out to make the Canucks a statistic, not a good sign.

REASONS TO WATCH THIS GAME
- After yesterday’s loss to the Sabres, two points are even more crucial. You’d expect Willie to utilize more of his young guys to keep this one energized. But no one knows how he operates so we’ll just have to wait and see. Maybe his hip still hurts and he’s taking it out on the team? I dunno.
- The possibility of seeing BOTH backups in the game is like seeing a Lonely Island short on SNL, you’ll be telling your friends about it tomorrow. That might be a tad generous but when you cheer for the Canucks and the backup is a legitimate backup and not the 1B option, it’s a story.
- Jannik Hansen is tailored for teams like the Devils; he’s a workhorse and I think he has a chance today to be a difference maker.
- On the drive to the rink this morning, there’s a good chance the Canucks will see the odd body floating in the river. Jake Virtanen is in the targeted “hit” capital of America and I don’t need to tell you that he should try and fit in. Time to increase the “murders” count.
- Sven Baertschi is still in the lineup and he actually is doing things that make him noticeable, goals however are not one of those things. We need goals. Come to think of it, he’s not the only guy.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
MY TAKE
This is a NEW Jersey team and they are slowly getting back to the classic teams that you did not want to face. Young defenseman and former Kelowna Rocket Damon Severson is already a key cog for NJD and a shutdown backender. The Canucks better be ready to play, but if it is backup day in the swamp then they REALLY better be ready to play. Canucks and backups don’t usually mix. I want to say they win but these late game decisions make me think otherwise.
